Marie Cann
October 20, 1930 - March 24, 2017
It is with heartfelt sorrow the family announces the passing of their beloved Auntie Marie on Friday, March 24, 2017, at Victoria General Hospital.
Marie was predeceased by her father Fred; mother Annie; sisters Mary, Olga, and Lena; brothers Michael, John, Bill, Tony, and Steve.
Marie was born in Gonor, MB (near Lockport), on October 20, 1930. The family then moved to East Kildonan (Morse Place) where she attended Salisbury and Lord Wolseley schools. She then attended secretarial school and moved to live with her sister Olga in Minneapolis, MN. After a couple of years, Marie returned home to Winnipeg (East Kildonan) and worked at Inland Steel until her retirement in 1990.
When she was younger she went bowling and dancing and played Bingo. Marie had a “green thumb” and loved her plants and flowers. She liked fishing and also went mushroom and berry picking. Marie travelled quite frequently to Minneapolis and also to Toronto. She really enjoyed her big trips to Italy, Hawaii, Moscow, and Kiev; as well as a Caribbean cruise with family.
Marie was generous, kind, and loving, and will be greatly missed by all.
“We love you dearly Auntie.”
