<div itemprop="description">Robert (Bob) Henry Drain APR, FCPRS (H) <br>December 7, 1924 - December 25, 2016 <br> <br>It is with heavy hearts that Robert’s family announces his passing early Christmas morning 2016. <br> <br>Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Marilyn (nee Davies), daughters Rebecca and Melanie (James). <br> <br>Robert worked in Public Relations for the Manitoba Telephone System for 31 years and retired in 1987. <br> <br>He was a life member of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) and in May 2016 was recognized as the 12th person in the history of CPRS to receive a certificate for 50 years of membership. <br> <br>He was also a member of the Winnipeg Toastmasters Club as a District Governor and received an award in 1966 (Distinguished District Award) for club expansion. <br> <br>In addition he was a member of the Militia, the Pioneers and St. John’s Cathedral. <br> <br>He was also an accredited member of the Public Relations Society in Manitoba and in 1984 received an award from the National Public Relations Society. <br> <br>Due to his interest in the Public Relations profession he co-authored a book “Successful Conference and Convention Planning” published in 1978 <br>. <br>Upon his retirement Robert considered himself an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed travelling, the family farm and an archeology project in Portage la Prairie, landscaping and also continued some work projects as a consultant. <br> <br>The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital (5th floor) for their care and compassion during his illness, to Dr. Sobowale, and to the family caregivers without your support we couldn’t have fulfilled all of Dad’s wishes and needs. <br> <br>Service will be held Saturday January 7, 2017 at 2 pm, Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. <br> <br>Flowers are greatefully accepted or donations can be made to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba. <br> <br></div>
