<div itemprop="description">It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Ray, on April 25th, 2013 at the age of 75 years. <br /> <br />He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Genia, son Don (Lynda) Van Kooten of Great Falls, MB as well as his pride and joy, grandchildren Vanessa and Tyler Van Kooten, his foster grandchildren and his darling little choo-choo great-granddaughter Cheyenne. Among others that he loved; were brothers David (Lorraine) Van Kooten, Morris (Marlene) Van Kooten and sister Rita (Pete), step mother Madge Van Kooten , step siblings, brother and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many long-time friends. <br /> <br />Raymond was predeceased by; his parents Dora and Albert Van Kooten; sister Irene and infant brother Henry. <br /> <br />Raymond was born on February 25, 1938 in South Junction, MB, where he was raised and educated. He moved to Winnipeg at an early age, met the Love of His Life, Genia, on a baseball field in Steinbach and was married in 1962 and along followed their son Don in 1965. Ray was employed as a milkman with Peoples Co-op and retired in 2005 after finishing his milk man days working on the truck with his son Don at Saputo Dairies. Ray loved spending time at his son&rsquo;s farm where you could always catch him in the garden or with his son and great grand-daughter going to check the cows. Ray was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in June of 2008. He loved to travel, spend time with his family, word puzzles and his Jets TV. <br /> <br />Funeral Service will be held on April 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. with interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St. Honorary Pallbearers are granddaughter Vanessa, great granddaughter Cheyenne and all of his nieces and nephews. <br /> <br />We wish to extend special thanks to Dr. D. Miller and Linda as well as the staff of the Seven Oaks Hospital. <br /> <br />If so desired donations in Ray&rsquo;s name may be made to the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. <br /></div>
