It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mike at the age of 85 at Holy Family Home.

He is survived by his wife Jackie of 56 years, his treasured daughters, Corinne and Donna (Sumka), son-in-law Stephen, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pat and Dennis Steer.

Mike was predeceased by his parents Alex and Dora, brother Henry, sister Agnes and a son (stillborn).

Mike's greatest pleasure in life was the many years spent with his family at their cottage in Sandy Hook. There were many bonfires with friends, horseshoe tournaments, roasting hotdogs, games of lawn darts and just sitting around watching the flames and listening to the crackling of the fire. After the cottage was sold, Mike had a sunroom built and a fire pit installed in the backyard of our home to replicate the atmosphere of the lake.

On Christmas Eve when the children were young, Mike would wear a Santa Claus suit and pace in front of our home. The girls would see him and invite him inside excited to tell their friends that Santa was at their house. It took a while for them to realize that it was their dad.

Mike will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A private family service will take place at a later date.

We would like to thank Dr. Terry Babick for providing Mike with many years of care and medical attention. Father Frank Szadiak for providing spiritual guidance and last rites, Sister Charlene Belay, Sister Darlene Pelachaty and the 3rd floor nurses and health care aids of Holy Family Home for their compassion and support and dedication to Dad and the members of our family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's memory to the Lubov Foundation. LUBOV SSMI Foundation, 1085 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2W 1T9.
