Katherine (Kay) Tereck (Lazarenko)
Oct 21, 1921 - Oct 24, 2016

Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Kay passed away on October 24, 2016 at Holy Family Personal Care Home.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill, her sister Anne, and brothers Tom, Mike, and Nick. Left to cherish her memory are her children Dan (Linda), Karen (Randy Koroscil), and Gord (Susan), her 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Nellie, and Elsie, 2 brothers, John, and Harry, and many extended family and friends.
Kay grew up on a farm near Arborg, Manitoba, and moved to Winnipeg in her early twenties, where she worked at the Paris Restaurant. It was there that she met her soulmate Bill, and they were married in 1948. They moved into their new house on Kildarroch Street in the North End, where they resided together for 58 years, until Bill's passing in 2006. Within 2 years, Kay sold the house and moved to an apartment at the Holy Family Towers on Aberdeen Ave, where she lived independently until July of this year, when she was placed into the Holy Family Personal Care Home.
Kay was a vibrant, and active person. She loved to dance, and went to various Senior dances until her early nineties. She enjoyed playing cards, and bingo. She also enjoyed bowling, participating in leagues for more than 60 years, until she was 92 years old!
Mom was also very much about family. She would never let a special occasion pass without having a family get-together - usually a big meal at their house. That was when she was in her glory.
Mom (Baba) was a loving wife, dedicated homemaker, and great mother to her three children - caring for them when they were ill, waiting up for them when they were out late, supporting them in their activities - she was always there.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Holy Family for their support, care and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 10:00 am at Glen Eden Funeral Home, with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay's memory may be made to Holy Family Personal Care Home through the Lubov Foundation www.lubovfoundation.ca 204-942-0443.
