It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Katherine on July 1 at St. Boniface hospital, with her family by her side. Katherine was pre-deceased by her husband Joseph in 2002 and by several brothers and sisters. She will be dearly missed by her son Robert, daughter Audrey (Gerard) Labelle, grandson David (Jennifer) Labelle, granddaughter Chantal (Richard) Santos, and great-granddaughters Tessa Labelle and Julia and Kayla Santos. She will also be missed by her sisters Pauline and Lorraine and by many nieces and nephews.
Katherine was born Feb. 21, 1922 near Fraserwood MB and subsequently moved to Winnipeg, where she met and married her husband Joseph in 1942. She was a lifelong member of St. Alphonsus Parish, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and the St. Bernadette Circle. She loved to knit and to read and was famous for her Ukrainian cuisine. She also enjoyed spending time at the cottage at Grand Beach and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never turned down the many requests for her prayers, which always seemed to be answered.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alan MicFlikier and his nurse Barbara for their excellent medical care. We also express our appreciation to her home care staff for their years of dedicated support. At Katherine’s request, a private family service was held on Thursday July 7, at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church with internment at Glen Eden
