It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear son, father, husband and friend, Johnathan William Fahr. After a courageous two-year battle with cancer, he passed peacefully in his much beloved home on the farm in East St. Paul.

He leaves behind his loving wife Jennifer, daughter Ava, his parents William and Patricia, brother James and uncle Thomas. Also left to mourn are his in-laws John and Roberta Robillard, Connie (Keith), Jason (Elliot), Oma Gerda Fahr and his constant companion Ellie Mae, his German Schnauzer. Johnathan was predeceased by his Opa, Julius Fahr.

From a young age he was always actively involved in the community. As a teenager, he became involved with “Citizens on Patrol” and volunteering for the Conservative Party. Many of his earlier years were spent horseback riding with his horse Tia, snowmobiling with friends and family, and sharing family dinners and, most important to him, desert. Ever since he could walk and ride a bike, he knew how to drive a tractor and other farm equipment, an important skill for a child growing up on a farm. Johnathan loved being on the farm, especially doing farm chores, collecting the eggs, cutting the grass, and taking “Big Red” out to move snow (only his way was the right way).

Johnathan attended River East Collegiate where he met his high school sweetheart Jennifer. Little did he know then, that she would be his future wife and best friend.

Planning and attending family gatherings were highlights throughout his life. He ensured that every detail was planned and well organized. The Robillard cabin at Lac Lu, Ontario was one place where he could enjoy relaxing and unwinding with friends and family, without the pressures of work. Travelling with Johnathan was always an adventure. Every detail and moment was planned and executed to the “Johnny Fahr” standard. All trips included a visit to a sub-division or a business meeting.

All who had the pleasure and honour of working with and knowing Johnathan would have to agree that he had the confidence of accomplishing anything he set his mind to, and he made sure we all knew it. He had a commanding presence when he entered a room. Although he was only 34, he accomplished so much in a short time, from being the founder and vice president of the Fahr Group, president of the East St. Paul Chamber of Commerce, being on the Board of Directors of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce, and being past president of PMI Manitoba chapter. He graduated from Simon Fraser University in the field of sustainable development.

Johnny’s work in real estate development included many projects such as Prairie Ridge, of which he was proud. The Fahr lands project was his biggest challenge and passion, developing the Fahr property into a sustainable community. His future aspirations were to pursue a career in local politics, giving back to the community he was born and raised into. To carry on his legacy, he has requested a scholarship in his name to a recipient at River East Collegiate who is furthering their education in the field of business.

Always courageous, Johnathan fought so hard to stay with us. He persevered through it all, but he still always made his family his first priority.

Your life on earth with us ended way too soon and we will miss you forever. Your values will live on with all the hearts and minds you touched deeply. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and Doctors at St. Boniface Cancer Care.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 12 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Abundant Life Church, 3486 Raleigh St., East St. Paul, MB. Funeral service will be held Monday, June 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Road, Winnipeg, MB. Reception to follow at the church. A private family interment will take place.

Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenedenmemorial.ca
