Erdmunde (Munde) Heymann
1930 - 2016

It is with great sadness, the family of Erdmunde (Munde) Heymann announces her passing on Sunday, April 10, 2016.

Munde leaves to mourn her loving husband Hans, married almost 65 years; her sons Karl (Susie), Gary (Sylvia), Werner and Donna. She leaves seven grandchildren, Kirsten and Monika, Jasmine and Maxine, and Erich, Alexis and Lauren; as well as five great-grandchildren Emily, Sophie, Hailey, Lily, and Ivan to cherish her memory. Also to mourn is her sister Doris (Marcel) and sister’s in law Marichen (Herbert) and Christel, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and many other family members and friends.

Munde was predeceased by her parents Anton and Alwine Drews, and her brothers Gotthold and Gerard Drews.

Munde was born in Juljanow, Poland on December 6, 1930. As a young teen she lost her father during WWII. As refugees, along with her mother, she guided and protected her young brothers. Those war torn years taught her sacrifice and hunger and how to survive at all costs.

In December 1949, Munde and her family immigrated to Canada. On the seas she met the love of her life, her beloved Hans. On July 7, 1951 she married Hans and together they raised three sons. Munde was always a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and was active in the family business and ventures. She was a fierce protector and provider of her husband, children, family, and friends. Munde’s compassion and empathy for others made her take on their pain and joy as her own.

Munde found sanctuary at their cottage at Hillside Beach since the 1950’s, where four generations often gathered. She loved swimming, beaching, gardening, blueberry and mushroom picking with her family and most of all the family suppers and BBQ’s.

Munde loved their various properties in Florida since 1977. Her vacations to many world-wide locations over the years with Hans and her sons were treasured. Munde celebrated her 85th and Hans’ 88th birthday this last January in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where 25 family members gathered together.

Munde will always remain in our hearts and memories. Her presence, undying love and devotion will be sadly missed.

The family wishes to thank the ER and ICU at Concordia Hospital for their professionalism and compassion for Munde and her family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canadian Lutheran World Relief or a charity of your choice.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Abundant Life Lutheran Church, 3486 Raleigh St. (off Hoddinott Rd.), East St. Paul, MB. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul, MB. Reception to follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre.
