Bernard Brian O’Connor (Barney)
September 21, 1929 – September 24, 2014

Peacefully, at the age of 85 after a brief but brave battle with cancer, Dad went to Heaven to be with Mom.

He was predeceased by his wife Maureen, his only brother Jack, his parents Garrett and Florence, and his brother-in-law
Rod de Paiva.

He is survived and forever missed by his only child Nancy and her husband Dave, three grandchildren: Steven, Andrew, and Katie, sister-in-law Dolores de Paiva, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dad was a proud Air Canada employee for 41 years and 9 months. He loved his job for many reasons, the most important being he met the love of his life through the airline. There was nothing Dad couldn’t build or fix, and he gladly taught his daughter how to bait her own hook, change her own tire and load her own shotgun (everything every teenage girl should learn). He loved hunting and fishing even though he was luckier at one more than the other. Dad loved his legion family, winning countless meat draws and grocery draws.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to all the nurses, nurses aids and doctors at Concordia Hospital, the Maples Personal Care Home and Kildonan Personal Care Centre for taking such wonderful care of Dad over the past few months.

Memorial service to be held Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Prince Edward Branch, 300 Trent Ave, Winnipeg.
As per Dad’s wishes, the first round is on him.

Donations in Dad’s memory gratefully accepted to the Legion Athletic Camp,http://www.legionathleticcamp.com/article/sponsors-club-173.asp.

Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4477 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB in care of arrangements.

I love you Daddio!
